It’s Time To Spring Into Action
With Spring around the corner, there are lots of chores to be done before trees begin to leaf out and perennials start to peak out of the ground.
A few tips to consider is pruning trees and shrubs while they are still dormant.
But, don’t spring into action too soon. If you remove garden debris too early, the habitat for pollinators will be disturbed, leaving them out in the cold. A variety of bees, butterflies, and other insects still need cover to survive. Wait until the days and nights are warm enough to put away your wool socks and long underwear.
Trim back ornamental grasses before new growth appears. Inspect and repair for any snow- and ice-damaged evergreens, such as arborvitae.
